1161728 2010-12-15 06:14:00 wt - Does that Rkill tool run similar to the task kill process from command prompt? like as described in the how to geek process. (www.howtogeek.com) Curious, thanks. The ones I have had to deal with, wouldn't allow any exe to run. Did not try the Run Command in safe mode, BUT when trying msconfig to try and disable it wouldn't allow it, some rubbish about trojan ??? -- when running msconfig in safe mode, the entry was not there.

There are several about, and some are more "tricky" than others to remove. NO antivirus, antimalware programs will install in normal mode, only in safe mode.

1161732 2010-12-15 08:24:00 How are these computers being infected? Is it because of sites visited? Is a properly-protected computer safe or are all at risk? Shortstop (632)
1161733 2010-12-15 08:35:00 All the ones I have seen its combination's of out of date (expired) or the not so good free antivirus software, along with file sharing programs, along with a smidgen of Drive-by Downloads (en.wikipedia.org).

To answer - Agents Question -- No Idea why - first one I scanned picked up a couple of infections, but not the actual main one. Since then after gaining more and better knowledge/ experience on how to get rid of them, its easier to follow a "path that works". ( till they change any way :D )

Some Info: Rkill simply kills the process so the other programs can get it out.
