1163217 2010-12-19 03:46:00 I'm currently using a 350w power supply.

I just looked in one of my spare pc boxed and found an unused 450w power supply. The Brand is L & C Technology. it says Total Output is 450w max. So i'm thinking this is 450w?

If so, is it safe for me to put it in my computer? as an upgrade?

1163219 2010-12-19 03:58:00 Any particular reason to change from the One you have working Now ?

It will work, BUT it may also cause more trouble than its worth.
The PSU is one item you don't want to skimp on, a bad / cheap/ Budget PSU can blow the whole PC.

Just did a google search, and found several posts similar to This one (forums.techguy.org).

Your choice, but if your current ones working, and no problems, dont fix what aint broke :D

1163220 2010-12-19 04:01:00 Can't see why not. If your current one is working OK, can't see any advantage in changing it, though, unless you are planning on adding more power draining devices.

Also, no guarantee that the 'new' one is any better given the tendency of many manufacturers to exaggerate. The wattage rating is a very fuzzy/global parameter in any event.

1163221 2010-12-19 04:03:00 isn't a bigger power supply better?

and also, it has more power imputs, which means (If i can find the correct ribbon) i can put a 3rd hard drive in.

If you're not approaching the peak draw of your current PSU, and it's decent quality, there is no benefit in upgrading.

NO. A decent brand is better.

Only if it really is bigger . Cheap generic PSU makers have been known to exaggerate .

ALWAYS stick to quality PSUs only, forget any cheap nasty ones .
