1163758 2010-12-20 22:41:00 Will do :) thanks for the input so far - can't hurt to try these things out. Still waiting to hear back from the vendors and netcomm too so hopefully will get it sorted soon. mstee (16141)
1163759 2010-12-20 22:46:00 could be the rare occasion of a fault with one of these.

i dont think anyone on here has had issues that hasn't been fixed.

1163760 2010-12-20 22:49:00 Well, I can highly recommend the ethernet connections ;) mstee (16141)
1163761 2010-12-21 04:02:00 Whats your laptops network card?
Are you using WEP, WPA-personal or WPA2-personal?
TKIP or AES?

1163762 2010-12-21 04:12:00 Hi I'm still at work so can't check the ethernet card but the wireless one is a Realtek RTL8191SE (worked fine with the Thomson modem that Telecom provided).
As for the security settings, I think I tried 'em all - WEP+AES is standard with the basic setup on the modem I think - 10 char ascii key but I tried all combinations I could think of. I've had the router since Friday so played around a bit during the weekend. I've also tried to connect with no security enabled, as well as switching off my firewalls etc.

1163763 2010-12-21 04:29:00 And what firewalls are installed on these? Just 1 on each I hope Speedy Gonzales (78)
1163764 2010-12-21 04:31:00 Haha - I meant my AV firewall - just in case it was interfering in some weird and wonderful way that I didn't know about. Didn't make any difference though - still wouldn't connect so turned it back on. mstee (16141)
1163765 2010-12-21 04:33:00 Oh, I think I see what you mean now - I am only running the one router - 2 PCs but the desktop doesn't have wireless. mstee (16141)
1163766 2010-12-21 04:36:00 So neither have software based firewalls, besides the windows one? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1163767 2010-12-21 05:02:00 I have turned off windows firewall in preference to my actual AV but haven't set up anything specific for the router as yet - wanted to connect first :) mstee (16141)
