| 1116240 | 2010-07-06 03:46:00 | the funny things Google throws at you, suggestions, sponsored links, 30% (150 hits) to my site are from google, displayed over analytics, by google! I heard that google collected user history to build a database to target ad's based on your IP to what you commonly search for. even if they do that I get some preeeeety wierd stuff come up, especially when using Tor, google I do NOT live in Germany I am not looking for free gambling and i'm not interested in a gay relationship with your Russian/German catalog models | The Error Guy (14052) | ||

| 1116243 | 2010-07-07 03:01:00 | Well the advertiser's are to blame as well as some sites. I mentioned earlier in the thread they are likely using a broad set of keywords for their ad campaigns. This increases supposedly relevant ads triggering off - i.e. to attempt to increases impressions and generally click through rates/conversions. This would cost them more and are likely to get less chance of their ad display if not strictly relevant. But some advertiser's would get around by having dozens of keyword (e.g. based on relevancy/phrase types) ad campaigns - with thousands of keywords, to trigger at set times, and other techniques to target unsuspecting searchers. If you Google PC World Chat (as some members may be doing to get here) - some sponsored ads will display relating to dating including same sex - depending if advertisers are set/optimized to trigger them at that time. Those ads (or similar) will carry on once members reach here. Like - I trigger my hotel site sponsored ads at set times in set countries for set "excat" keywords. Cause it's far cheaper than to go broadly too wide for too many keywords - which many big name/budget advertisers can afford to do. But sites using adsense have to have a adsense "privacy policy" to describe adsense cookie behavior and the option for visitors/users to opt out. |
