1163157 2010-12-19 03:49:00 I had a succession of problems with Burnaware Free so decided to download and use Fbackup (free) . Am using Windows 7, Home Edition on a PC .

After downloading Fbackup I went to use it and Fbackup asked me to show the destination drive from a list of C,E,F,G,H drives . But for some peculiar reason would not give me the choice of D Drive (for a DVD) . Checked that Windows Explorer was recognising the drive okay . Also started to play a DVD as an additional check - that went fine .

Okay, I thought, perhaps a reboot of the PC . That did not work . So then decided to uninstall Fbackup and then re-install . I did that rebooting between the steps .

However Fbackup still does not show D drive as an option . If I 'browse' then it will show the D Drive but 'ok stays greyed out and not available as a choice .

The only other clue is that every time I open Fbackup from the desktop shortcut I am asked whether it is okay for the program to make changes to my computer . I say yes and there is follow-up activity . However next time the shortcut is clicked it asks the same question again .

Most peculiar ! Any suggestions ?

Thanks linw - it does look like the comment on the link you give is correct. I had thought of it as a possibility but the Fbackup website told me that I could use a DVD.
I can't understand why it claims that !

1163160 2010-12-19 04:33:00 Where did you read the FREE version will backup to DVD ?

From their site
FBackup can easily back up sources from local drives (including USB connected drives) to destinations such as USB/Firewire connected devices or mapped network locations.

If you want the Option to backup to CD or DVD, then you will need Backup4all (http://www.backup4all.com/) - Their paid version. (Standard Version minimum)

1163162 2010-12-19 06:52:00 No worries Misty . :)

Some programs have several versions, Free, which generally have limited functions, and the paid versions .

Just depends on what a person wants to do, as to whether the free one will suit .

You would be better off just getting an external drive to backup to anyway...NO one backups up to optical drives anymore!......do they?
