1116366 2010-07-05 22:43:00 Does anyone know the laws regarding children entering bars at any age with their parents/care givers?

Obviously not drinking.

Does this depend on the liquor license? Or is it a flat yes/no?

1116367 2010-07-05 23:05:00 I know when in Aust, they wouldn't allow my son even anywhere near the bar ( RSL), even though he was only helping carry the drinks.

looking through several places like Finnegans (www.viewauckland.co.nz) or here (www.finda.co.nz) kids are allowed, but I would assume like Aust, not at the bars.

1116368 2010-07-05 23:10:00 I have noticed a lot of kids at bars in the recent weeks...
I'm thinking this is the bar/pub's decision as to when they can/can't be allowed, rather than a legislation?

1116369 2010-07-05 23:13:00 When I was a kid in Motueka we kids stayed in the car while Dad and tobacco workers were partaking of the six o'clock swill. prefect (6291)

I would have thought things would have been more lenient back in those days, I thought the kids would have been the mules bringing over the beer for daddy and his mates.

1116371 2010-07-05 23:24:00 I believe it does depend on the license - if the bar has a restaurant license also, then kids are allowed to accompany parents. However a bar-only license, I suspect would not allow children on premises. johcar (6283)

1116373 2010-07-06 00:23:00 I've only seen kids in bars that are also restaurants. Would be kinda worried to see kids in bars that are bars only....imagine kids in Provedor - they would be crushed! qazwsxokmijn (102)

When my son was just a wee thing we regularly went to Te Atatu Tavern where we would play arcade games for ages, husband would have a beer, I might or not, all 3 of played games.
That was a pub. No-one ever said anything except when is it our turn?

What times did your family used to go at? I've only went to bars and pubs in the city late at night, so the atmosphere's probably all different there and then.
