I am not having much luck and am beginning to wonder if it can't be done.?Yes, it can be done - you'll need to set it up as a standard POP mail account. See here (examples.oreilly.com) for instructions.

If it doesn't work one of your settings will be wrong. One thing is that it can take a while for it to identify the account after you first set it up, and it may just hang for a while before detecting the new account.

Now you mention, you say a paradise account, they may place restrictions on their system, as I recall having a problem with paradise placing restrictions when I used them many years ago.

1115376 2010-07-02 11:55:00 I think paradise may limit access to their mail servers to traffic from within their own network.

Try forwarding it to a gmail account, then accessing it over IMAP.

1115377 2010-07-02 13:09:00 Been through all of that previously without success. Then something is wrong with the details you're entering - it definitely works. Do you have your mail account set up in Thunderbird / Outlook / some other desktop mail client? If so, try checking the settings there to make sure you're using the right ones.

Did you have any problems setting up such an account in Ipod.?Nope - every ipod I've set up with pop3 worked fine, provided the settings were correct.
