1164536 2010-12-24 07:05:00 Hi All

I am new to the Wellington/ Kapiti coast area. Is there anyone who knows where the best place is for me to buy PC Hardware to build a new system. I am looking for a store that has good customer service and are reliable and trustworthy.

Try Ascent, they're very highly regarded :)

1164538 2010-12-24 09:29:00 I have used Computer Lounge in Auckland. I have had good service from them. Quick delivery from Auckland to Invercargill.

I see that Ascent is in Wellington and handier for you. I have not tried them.

1164539 2010-12-24 18:43:00 Ascent don't build for you now - go there if you are building it yourself, if not then Computer Lounge - CL do free freight. pctek (84)
1164540 2010-12-24 19:15:00 Or even Wainuitech who is a member of this forum runs his own business and would be able to help you out gary67 (56)

1164543 2010-12-24 21:19:00 The heyday of computer shops around 10-20 years ago when they stocked parts for sale has long gone. Even the shops still around generally will have to order the parts you want from the wholesalers.
So you may as well go direct to the online stores like Ascent, Paradigm as already mentioned.

Or, if you want something built to your specs, then commission someone like Wainui to do it for you.

1164544 2010-12-25 09:07:00 PB Technology in Vivian St, Atech Computers in Wakefield St, both in Wellington City (I've found Atech to be generally very helpful and cheaper than PB).

www.atech.co.nz
Pb is closed until 10th Jan, Atech open limited hours and closed for stats only.

1164545 2010-12-26 03:19:00 Cheap is not necessarily best. I found that out. Some years ago I found Atech less helpful to a claim on a failed cheap motherboard they had supplied. Their inspection fee would have been about what the MOBO had cost. I have not been back! PENTIUM (426)
