| 1164455 | 2010-12-24 02:15:00 | I have a little vb.Net application that communicates with a server (over the internet) every 30 seconds or so. However whenever it does the application locks up for 5-10 seconds while its doing its thing. Is there a way to let my application work over the net without locking up while its doing it? Cheers, Mike. |

What's it actually doing...?All its doing really is a quick communication with a couple of internet servers to make sure they are online, and plays a sound if there is a change. I'll run a debug on it later to see if I can figure out where it is hanging. Spin off a separate thread for the internet-communication bit if it doesn't have to be synchronous. How do I do that? :) Thanks for your replies :) Mike. |
