1117560 2010-07-11 04:52:00 What is difference between Peking and Beijing?
One is Cantonese pronunciation, the other is Mandarin.

Similar to the word "resume" - two different pronunciation depending on the context of use.

1117562 2010-07-11 04:54:00 There is no gridlock on the rails :p

Exactly! The trains don't do much more than 70kph and yet they roar past the traffic on the southern motorway!

Have you seen all the nice new train stations? Onehunga is nearly finished. They say it will take about 20min by the train as opposed to 60min on the bus.

New Lynn looks good down in that big trench. The new line to Manukau is also in a very deep trench. That is nearly finished.

The Auckland trains are about 60 years behind Wellington but at least it is happening.

My winter growing attempts over the years have been dismal, my cabbages could be mistaken for brussel sprouts. Caulis sometimes not so bad but get black stuff on them so feed them to the chookz. Funny because it Summer the garden goes nuts very bountiful like a Yates garden book cover.
As far as fishing goes I catch some of my own my wife estimates that the fish we have caught and the money spent on boat our snappers are coming down in value to about $800 each.

Old and new spelling (English), another example, Canton(old) and Guangzhou(new).

Just like Wanganui & Whanganui in New Zealand.

Don't forget a decent Chinese Restaurant

bob and your Chinese food!

btw. can you live without Chinese food? :D

Only problem is that ARTA/ARC stuffed up and built a 55m station, when the new electric trains will be 70m

(Current 2 car trains are 40m.)
