1456097 2018-11-28 13:56:00 I have a trusty old Canon 3000F which is still working well and which I want to use with Win 7 Pro but have not been able to find suitable drivers. This scanner uses Twain 32 for its tool box. I have a Twain 32 folder from an earlier version of Windows and suspect that current installations no longer use it so maybe lack of Twain 32 is at least part of the problem. Does Twain 32 come in different forms for different versions of Windows or is it generic? Do the files have to be installed or would copying the folder into Windows (where does it go?) suffice?

TIA.

1456099 2018-11-28 19:27:00 Go to the canon site, download the vista Drivers, they may work on W7.

1456100 2018-11-29 00:06:00 I have found this problem is quite often the sequence you install the printer in.

I had major problem with a cannon one years ago - turned out I had plugged the printer in before I was supposed to, and the result was "no twain32" - after uninstalling (and completely removing any remnants from the registry etc) I reinstalled being very carefully to follow install instructions to the letter - and everything was finally installed and working - including the twain32

have come across it a couple times since with cannons, and doing this has resolved it

I take it you do have the original install disc?

Hope this might help - as they say "worth a crack, Trev!" :)

1456102 2018-11-29 13:29:00 Thanks for the replies.

Lurking, I have tooled around Tom's hardware quite a bit without finding anything that worked. I think it is somewhere on that site or its links that I saw a post from someone who has this scanner working under Win 8. I might try to find a driver for that but I wouldn't expect that it would work for Win 7. I have yet to try a Vista version.
I am aware of the rather specific sequence given for installing the drivers. The installation disc that I have is for Win98SE so it is unlikely to be of any use but I could try it.

There are no suitable drivers for it . Its been abandoned long ago by canon . Theres 32bit vista drivers , no 64B vista & no 7 drivers at all.
IF you have 32b Win7 the vista drv should work (as suggested by WT)

Or buy a cheap printer scanner. After cashback promotions, they can sometimes be ridiculously cheap (sometimes as low as $10) .

perhaps try this, theres a free edition

1456105 2018-12-03 03:15:00 We had this thing before. We had a old computer running x32 Windows and remote access into it to gain access to the printer. If the drivers are only x32 bit then you cannot install them into a x64 Windows. Later that proved to be too much a hassle we got rid of the comptuer taking up space. Using my main computer I installed VMware and ran x32 bit but over time that also became too much a hassle. Just bought another printer, much speedier when the old printer toner ran out. You know the saying, a new toner cost more than a new printer with a small toner.

If you want it cheap, you could maybe pick up a $10 scanner on Trademe or a MFC printer/scanner where the ink is out?

You could downgrade your computer to x32 ..... if you have a Windows that is both versions.
