1456053 2018-11-27 00:11:00 I'm getting more and more failure notices. Any idea what's happening?

I've purged my histories in both my browsers and cleaned house everywhere I can think to go, and I'm still getting things like this............

I will admit that the 'fatness' on this 'puter seems to be gone now --- but if I cannot get security updates - am I crooked?

Hmm. I'd like to know how.
This isn't something I haven't any idea on how to accomplish it.

Let me post a screenshot of what I've got.................

1456056 2018-11-27 04:07:00 Okay let's deal with the first panel you posted first.
Click on the first source, a window will open and will start testing download speeds for various repositories, click on the fastest one.
Then do the same for the other source.
Then click on 'Additional Repositories' and untick both those for now.
Once you have done all that click on the refresh button at the top left.
It should start downloading the lists of updates, hopefully, good luck.

1456057 2018-11-27 04:39:00 I did that - wow! It was just like you said it would be.... lots of things happening!

I don't know if anything has been resolved - gonna try a reboot to see if there's something else hanging me up.

This 'puter has been online today for 10:48 Hrs, so I may have something full of something-or-other.......

1456058 2018-11-27 04:47:00 I had a similar (not the same) issue a while ago.
I went into terminal and told it to redo the PPAs etc (Forget command I used), found that on a Linux forum...and it rebuilt it all and fixed it.

1456059 2018-11-27 05:02:00 Reboot is done and I got hit with about 20 tabs that opened themselves and they were full of games, advertisements for add-ons and all kinds of things I don't want to see .

I wonder if I lost my security settings?

Anyway - the RED X is back - look down low on the black bar, to the left of the clock/time and you'll se a small shield with the RED X in it . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I looked into that and I tried to run it and got warned that I was messing with some serious stuff --- I chickened out until I find better info as to what it does and will do.

1456061 2018-11-27 05:45:00 Nothing we did will cause:
'20 tabs that opened themselves and they were full of games, advertisements for add-ons and all kinds of things I don't want to see. '
I suspect you could be infected with some browser high-jacker.
Perhaps resetting Firefox to defaults may clear that up.

As for the red x.. try another different source.

1456062 2018-11-27 08:08:00 Totally agree that none of this was from what we did tonight (my time) and I am very sure that these were a problem - somehow running slightly under a layer of electronic consciousness . That's why I was on the warpath for some sort of CCleaner version to help clean things up .

I did the FF repair/reload and so far - just a few minutes so far - it looks like a factory installation . At this time I have a GREEN Checkmark in the little warning icon . That's nice - but I don't want to put any money on it staying there! Hah!

I've gotta reset a few things - so only time will tell . .

Thanks all of youse - hang on tightly so you don't fall off the earth . . . I need youse guys!

Thanks very very much! .
