| 1458762 | 2019-03-11 19:30:00 | These days most of the appliance electric motors are induction motors, and do not have starter switch, but need a capacitor (to put it simply) to give it a kick when starting. These motors are simpler than the old ones, and cheaper to manufacture. The disadvantage is that they have very little torque at starting speed, and are used mainly where they run at a constant speed. They are available on TradMe for about $40. I could add more to this but it wont help Driftwood . He needs to either take toa rewinder & get Trade advice or throw in the towel & buy a new' one. No more talking on here will fix the ptoblem. Driftwood, it is 'bite the bullet time'. Taking it to a motor rewinder will cost you a charge, ask for an estimate first at least, then offset that against a new one. Also if he does give you a quote to repair it then compare that with a new one. I would also ask for new bearings, I always did. PJ |

| 1458767 | 2019-03-12 03:15:00 | See? pressf1.pcworld.co.nz there ya go being all mean and nasty again. I have told you - obviously to deaf and relentless nagging by you - concerning why I have a pistol. It is for self defense in the woods, along Ye Merrie Streame Bed wherein might livest a black or brown bear. I have to sneak up on trout - my favorite stalked creature - and I tend to ALSO sneak up on bears. Bears do NOT appreciate nor believe in my trout stalking activities. It has come to my attention they believe in all their hearts that I have volunteered to be their next warm high-protein meal. On the hoof - delivered! I, however, do NOT see it that way. Besides, in Montana, it's illegal to feed the bears. I am trying to comply with that law. You may now and forever cease and desist from accusing my intentions as being less than noble. |

PJ I have a 18 inch hole drill for large posts as an attachment on my three-point for my tractor. Any humans I have to dispose of, I just tape their arms on the sides, real tight and drop them into a 10-foot deep hole. It's all very legal here to bury a human on the property - just put on a headstone when you're done. |

| 1458770 | 2019-03-17 05:59:00 | Thanks for the help guys. I can still flick it into life with a stick. Have just put a batch of pruning's through it. Probably only be one more for the season, then I'll retire it. The fact that you can 'flick' it to start indicates an defective capacitor. If you flick it backwards, will it run backwards? If it does, the capacitor is 'open circuit'. Fix it before you lose some fingers!! |
