| 1458269 | 2019-02-15 19:41:00 | Yeah, had similar issues trying to get some changes at the bank for my mother. She doesn't have a drivers licence, or a passport, or a credit card or any photo ID. Birth cert seems a long shot as well, and might be details engraved on a stone tablet given her age now.... (ok, joking), but as far as the bank is concerned she's practically a non-person in the absence of these bits of paper and plastic. I wanted to set up online banking and make myself a co-signature on her cheques (yeah, this goes back to when cheques were still a thing) so that I could take care of her finances and bills. The bank wouldn't allow this without her proving her own idendity somehow. In the end the compromise was to make it a joint account (as I was able to 'identify' myself), not that I have any claim to the money that's in her account. So the stupidity of it was that she had to essentially hand over ownership of her accounts to me, when the only thing we wanted was to add an authority. As an authorised user I would not be entitled to take her money (although I'd have the capacity to do so), but as a joint account I have every (legal) right to swipe the lot whenever I see fit, so these 'security' measures actually could have placed for accounts at greater risk of being fleeced. The joint account arrangement also has the potential to mess things up with IRD and MSD if they were to find out my name was on her account. |

I did so -free. Take 2 forms of ID such as recent Power Board accounts or letter with your current address to an AA Centre who will take your photo and send to MSD If in doubt contact MSD -they will email you what you need to do. Took approx. 8 days for new Gold Card with photo to arrive. |

This is my point. Too many will start to have this issue now. This new law will only hurt the innocent, crims have no trouble getting fake ID's. Even some countries issue passports to anyone anyware if you give them some give them cash . |

| 1458274 | 2019-02-17 21:06:00 | Even though I hold driver's licensees from three states (California, Arizona, Montana) the only CURRENTLY active license is Montanna's . I can use the others as a photo-ID as well as the Montana license but not as a license to drive . After August this year, one has to have a Federally-certified type license if one wants to fly inside the US . Yeah - really! It only costs an additional $55 . 00 to get it but it puts a little gold star on the license in a hologram . Then you can fly . Montana will accept the plain ol' un-certified licenses until 2020 they say for intrastate air flights, and also to board and fly outward to anywhere in the US . Hah! Then just try to get on a plane in, say: New York for a return flight! It ain't gonna happen because New York already requires an enhanced license or a passport to board a plane, train or common carrier (interstate omnibus, taxi, etc) . I need to fly to New York soon and I guess I'll have to hitchhike back unless I get stopped at a state border crossing booth and they ask me for my papers! <sigh> The gauntlet's been waved! I'll show THEM! I'll walk back! I've done it before and I can do it again . Maybe . <sigh 2x> My Montana fishing license is an old thermal-print plasticized receipt that fades in six weeks even in the darkest folds of your wallet and cannot be read after that . It's good for a year . Har-umph! The next step up in technology for the Montana Department Of Fish And Game is to use a Daguerrotype . I've got a VA photo ID and my Social Security card which states that "This card is not to be used for identification" printed right on it . To get my license in Montana I had to produce a Passport or a birth certificate - which in and of itself is a story I'm saving to grace youse guys with on a future date when I have nothing better to do some late, late evening cum-morning . |

Stricter laws only kill the innocent - they don't even enforce the laws they already have on the books! They can't because the genie's outta the bottle in a huge way. What're new laws gonna do!?!?! Feel-gooders are all a-twitter with the prospect of new, tougher gun laws. Deranged boobs ---> each and every one of them. |
