1458244 2019-02-15 18:05:00 Why do you keep referring to us as sheep?? :(

Penguins, maybe --- but never sheep --- which I eat as many, often and as much as I can.

I guess youse guys are kinda tired of sheep though --- right?

1458245 2019-02-15 19:12:00 Youse = ewes

I find the use of the word offensive!

1458246 2019-02-16 06:23:00 C'mon, Zipper ---> I'm only playing into the stereotype that most of the world has on US citizens .

We are NOT all from New York City, nor New Jersey nor Chicago .

So --- youse guys get what youse guys wants .

I'm really a surfer if it has to be told . "Totally gnarly, dude! I'm stoked to sit out the heavies today and just trade snot with my bunny . "

OK? I think 'youse' is much better .

1458247 2019-02-16 07:43:00 ‘Youse yins’ is Scots, as in Glaswegian. In other words in NZ - ‘You ones’. I lived and worked in Glasgow for a year and lived with ‘My man’ for 45 years plus.
In my part of NZ, in Southland, ‘Youse’ was common. Meaning - ‘you people’, not ‘ewes’. This reflected our very Scots ancestry. I grew up on a fat lamb producing farm, so I knew all about ‘Ewes’ - from whatever end you are talking about :)

1458248 2019-02-16 08:05:00 Sorry, I was bought up to say "you".

Youse or ewes was ignorance.

1458249 2019-02-16 08:40:00 Not in Glasgow, and no, it wasn’t ignorant! And ‘ewes’ are worth a lot of money, particularly if the are part of a stud flock. One needs quite a bit of nous to manage these successfully.

What I am really saying, is that language (even just English) varies in usage in different parts of the world, and indeed within NZ. This does not necessarily represent stupidity.
