1456471 2018-12-16 22:35:00 I have recently installed a Samsung EVO 970 M.2 in my Dell i7 5000, Mint & W10 dual booted. It will not work if RAID is enabled, and requires AHCI to be enabled. If W10 is updated it sometimes changes the boot order in the BIOS. mzee (3324)
1456472 2018-12-26 21:34:00 I don't know if I have resolved my problem. I bit the bullet and took the SSD from the laptop. I disconnected all of the drives in the Desktop, changed the BIOS to use AHCI, previously it was IDE, and then installed the SSD. I then used the Windows 10 media from a USB to do a clean install which wiped the SSD and installed Win10 Pro along with the AHCI drivers. I have now spent sometime rebuilding the SSD with my programs. I have reconnected two 2TB Sata HDDs for storage and everything has worked well since. Long may it continue! Bryan (147)
1456473 2018-12-28 22:33:00 I may be mistaken, but IDE refers to conventional hard drives only. The Samsung SSD is SATA 3 & requires AHCI. mzee (3324)
