1459090 2019-03-29 00:56:00 Jones has one of the most brilliantly funny minds and way of expressing himself you can ever hope to be entertained by. Sometimes a George Carlin-like acerbic wit, his is not the kindergarten, in-your-face teen or American humour, pub type crassness. Rather, clever wit supported by a enviable (for most of us) command of the language. Certainly not the wit one has to explain the meaning of to lesser intellects.

I wonder in this interchange just who is the "bitter and twisted jaded old man"?

:)

PS Sir Bob, my bank account number is unchanged from last time I leapt to your defence :lol:

I agree Wal, he has a wicket sense of humour.

Most of the time he is straight out “Goon Baiting” and sure gets the suckers to rise, as he does Trout I believe.

My kids must have thought I enjoyed his sense of humour as I think I have most of his books, courtesy of Birthday and Christmas presents.

One of Jones better efforts;

“In July 1985 New Zealand Party leader Bob Jones and president Malcolm McDonald surprised many by announcing the nation's then third most popular party was taking an 18 month recess. Seeking comment, TVNZ chartered a helicopter and found Jones fishing near Turangi. Jones was not amused, infamously breaking reporter Rod Vaughan's nose (and punching cameraman Peter Mayo). Claiming harassment and backed by public opinion, Jones filed a court writ claiming $250,000 in damages. Later, after being fined $1000, he asked the judge if paying $2000 would allow him to do it again.”

Then there was the time he claimed that Waitangi Day should be renamed “Maori Gratitude Day” where the Maori provided breakfast in bed and did the Pakeha’s gardens as acknowledgement of all the Pakeha had done for Maori.

Once again the goons rose to the bait.

I could go on, but finally there was the time he put a whopping great thermometer on the side of one of his buildings which was to show the credibility of the Labour Government. It never showed anything and eventually Jones announced that he was in trouble with the Spanish Government because the bulbous end had exceeded their Hight Restrictions.

Here's another alternative view, strangely not too dissimilar to the link in this post, but from Australian Imam Tawhidi, a brave and wise man and with an in-depth knowledge of Islam that can be relied upon.

Emphasis mine:

most Western leaders have no pride in their own religion, culture or traditions. You can show solidarity with us Muslims by adopting better security procedures, not embracing our religious practices. News reporters, police officers and the Prime Minister herself were wearing veils. The call to our prayers was blasted out loud from London to New Zealand; basically, the entire Western world. All this to show that you Westerners are sorry for what happened to us Muslims.

Frankly, I think this is an insane way of showing solidarity. It is also confusing to me, and all thinking Muslims. Why can’t Western leaders show solidarity with us without completely sacrificing their religions, culture and traditions? You did not have to adopt our culture to show sympathy.

This proved on thing: the authorities in New Zealand did not believe treating Muslim New Zealanders as New Zealanders was enough, they had to put their religious identity ahead of their actual citizenship; that is if you believe that the attack was against New Zealand as a country – which it was.

I am no way a sympathiser or supporter of Islam, after the slaughter of 120 Christians in Nigeria within the last three weeks, who could be? After the imposition just last weekend in Brunei of Sharia law and all its excesses, who could be?

But Imam Tawhidi and Anne Marie Waters both have the same end games ... we don't want or need Islam, and Islam neither wants or needs us.

So lets stop some of this absolute bull*** for a start.

Let's start by demanding our naive PM stop this virtue signalling and pandering to a foreign religion that has no place in our country. Stop our female Police following example and wearing Hijabs while on active duty. Let them stop and realise they're not showing solidarity by wearing the hojab, essentially a symbol of male dominance and subjugation of women.

And credit where it's due: "I also wish that we all conveyed our sympathies and condolences to the friends and families of the 120 Christians recently killed in Nigeria; along with the destruction of 100 homes." (Imam Tawhidi). But apart from Tawhidi, Islam has been characteristically silent.

To our politicians - and public servants - don't sell us down the road.

1459097 2019-04-01 16:56:00 Another aspect of this is I don’t believe that when Muslim Terrorists killed nearly 3000 in the Twin Towers attack any Islamic entity apologised.

There have of course been many Islamic Terrorist attacks, and I don’t think any were followed by outpouring of sorrow from anyone in the Islamic community.

Makes one wonder if all the grandstanding around Christchurch was worth it.

100% agree with this Wal. I fail to get why some people persist in confusing race with religion and also to not understand that Sharia law is completely incompatable with life in a democratic system such as we have in NZ,
