Wife: How many beers for each visit? Husband: Usually about three or so. No, make that just three. Where're you going with this? Wife: How much do you pay per beer? Husband: They're usually about $5.00 which includes a tip for the bartender or waitress. Wife: And how long have you been drinking? Husband: About 20 years, I suppose, plus or minus. Where're you going with this? Wife: So a beer costs you $5.00, and since you admit to having three beers a day, thath puts your beer spending each month at $450.00. In one year, it would be approximately $5400.00, am I close to correct? Husband: Uhmmm, yeah - correct - pretty close anyway. Where're you going with this? Wife: If in 1 year you spend $5400.00, and I'm not accounting for inflation, so-o-o the past 20 years puts your spending at $108,000.00. Is that correct? Husband: Ah ummm, yeah I guess --- that's correct, but where're you going with this? Wife: Do you know that if you didn’t drink any beer, that money could have been put in a step-up interest savings account and after accounting for compound interest for the past 20 years, you could have now bought an airplane? Husband: Do you drink beer? Wife: No. Where're you going with this? Husband: Where's your airplane? |
