1166039 2010-12-31 11:07:00 i have a
Core i7 875k
Gigabyte P55A-UD5
650w Sylverstone PSU
Gigabyte HD6850
And Kingston DDR3 2000 (4gb)

everytime i start a game the starting video "jitterz". Not dissimilar to when i was sing a 4650. Ive recently upgraded from a 5770. Also the sstem crashes when i run a benchmark. Its always the same, first the screen dies and gives me No Input message, but the pc is still runig, i.e WMplayer still playying songs. If however i play crysis, the screen dies AND then the computer slowly dies out and i.e all LED fans phase up and down, then the system resets. This happend even with my 400w PSU, which i can still play Black Ops with. Is my MoBo Fried?

1166040 2010-12-31 11:38:00 Probably your PSU output is insufficient (this card needs at least 500 watts plus 75 watts (auxiliary 6 pin plug, you have got this plugged into the card?) and 600+75+75 watts in Crossfire (2xcards)) plus your top end multicore CPU, fans, etc, you're overloading your power supply, 1000 watts would be better I'd say..

Alternatively the card may be overheating or failing, but I'd bet my money on the PSU going by this statement

1166042 2010-12-31 12:04:00 1.2. Minimum System Requirements
• Hardware
- Intel® Pentium® 4/CoreTM 2 or AMD AthlonTM /PhenomTM
- 1 GB or more of system memory for best performance
- Optical drive for software installation (CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive)
- A power supply that provides at least 500-watt and with one 75w 2x3-pin PCIe power
connector is required. The power supply should be with a known brand and certified to
conform to safety regulations. (For the list of certified power supplies, go to
ati.amd.com)
Thats from your cards manual (which I gave you the link for),
the calculator figure is a load of bollocks IMO, but if you think I'm wrong, fine.

I'd agree.
I had a 620w PSU once, supposedly sufficient for the card I had at the time.
But it wasn't.

I'm pretty sure "500W with 75W PCIe" doesn't mean 575W, but means that your minimum of 500W PSU should have the appropriate plugs...

You may be right with the PSU being insufficient, but I'm fairly sure you've misunderstood how that all works.

1166045 2010-12-31 23:49:00 A "Real" 650W is fine for your config no problem, however as above the issues sounds PSU related.

I believe SilverStone is a half decent brand so its possible you simply have a defective unit. I would be wanting to test with another 600W+ PSU before pointing your finger at the Mobo.

If you are overclocking I assume you have returned everything back to stock speed for testing? Ram,GPU,CPU.

1166046 2011-01-01 00:17:00 I would suspect probably a PSU issue. A quality 650W should be fine for that setup, unless it's faulty anyway. Otherwise, the GPU may be at fault. inphinity (7274)
1166047 2011-01-01 05:55:00 Ive taken my friends 650w an aywun brand now (he has my old 5750) and running it does the same thing, jitterz at the start up movie BSODs when running 3DMark, no resetting however. Its almost like 10 FPS when i start up AOM and AOE its the start up of Crysis aswell. HOWEVER i can play COD Black Ops on Ultra High 720p 24X SSAA, and Overclocked t 4.2ghz. Without Any problems. I just can't see how the starting videos of games are shitting out on me when i can COD Fallout NV and Avatat. and yes, all settigns returned to stock to try and resolve. still BSODs. 1166048 2011-01-01 05:58:00 PS the Graphics card and my friends Powersupply is brand new. Mine is slightly older 6 months? it is a silverstoneE elements 80 Plus 650W PSU. Don't realy want to buy a new PSU if it ain't the problem. This happend on the 5750 btw Mr_Olympia (7727)
