Secondly, hope you guys have a even more kickass new year :D

now back to the topic.

I have a freeagent external HDD. Aaaaages ago I found this annoying folder which just popped up out of nowhere, with a funny name "b76d75d8c7d6c041ba91a50292f5b2ac"

inside the folder it has a folder called "update", which is very outdated since it was last modified in 8/10/2009. within that "update" folder it has a "update.exe", dated all the way back to 2006 and a "updspapi.dll".

I can't delete it, when I try it says I require permission from the admin to make changes to this folder, but I am the admin!!!!:badpc:

How can I delete this annoying folder??

Thanks very much for the help guys, much much appreciated

1165506 2010-12-29 22:49:00 When I had this problem I ended up using an ubuntu live cd to delete the damn thing. It was just an empty folder, and yet I couldn't delete it in windows, safe mode or not. Nor could any file deleters get access to it.
So yeah, linux worked.

If you are going to reinstall Windows then as long as you do a full reformat it will be gone anyway .

Linux should delete it for you, and Unlocker might work . I think though what you would really need to do is you may need to change the access control list to get permissions to delete it in Windows .

But as I said, if you are full-formatting and reinstalling then don't bother .

Perhaps I am not typing this right, let me try again.

The annoying folder is on my external USB HDD.

I am wiping the windows installation off my internal HDD, once I reinstall windows on my internal HDD (which I jst did), it shouldn't need that folder anymore right?? But I still can't delete it...:badpc:
