1120360 2010-07-22 00:16:00 They are having a bit of trouble getting it started, it's the old Lucas syndrome.

For a paper aeroplane, the TSR2 was not all that great, there have been much greater flights of fancy; The Rotodyne promised miracles according to it's publicity, the Brabazon would have revolutionised air travel except for a couple of minor difficulties, the Concord would have been magic according to it's publicity, but they had to give them all away when not a single buyer could be found.
Any aircraft can be magnificent provided reality can be kept at bay. ;)

TSR2 not all that great?
How did you arrive at that conclusion?
It wasn't just a paper aeroplane - we had one flying and it well and truly exceeded the specifications, and performance expected.
It really was a wonderful experience to see it flying. There were several others virtually finished and ready for flight.
It was superior to anything else available at the time.

The Brabazon of course was really old technology and never stood a chance.

I am amazed to find the Concorde was given away !!
The airlines who used it certainly missed out there. I wonder where the free ones went to.

1120363 2010-07-22 02:41:00 I like this from Trev's link for the TSR2:

All modern aircraft have four dimensions: span, length, height and politics. TSR-2 simply got the first three right.
