1120060 2010-07-20 02:49:00 Stop complaining, my niece needed her wisdom teeth out, it was cheaper for her to fly from Perth get them done here and fly back rather than getting them out in Perth. ( Her Mum was pleased to see her tho. ) Arnie (6624)

1120063 2010-07-20 03:13:00 20 odd years ago I had a massive tooth ache, was in Auckland so found a local dentist and went in, I'm on the chair, he has a look, starts work, tells me he is going to do a root canal, yeah whatever, I ask him how much,

$1500.

Like **** I say, I get out of the chair, hand him back all teh surgical devices he had attached, bin the bib and walk out.

A couple weeks later I get a bill for $800.

Lmfao.

I sent theme in a cheque for $100 and a note saying I was going to stand outside there shop telling everyone how shithouse they were if the account wasn't considered closed.

1120064 2010-07-20 03:20:00 And on the other side of the coin...

On the very first day of this century, I visited an emergency dentist in Tauranga - I had bitten down on a popcorn kernal (I knew it was a kernal because I was required to salute) and broken one of the crowns off on one of my front molars.

I asked him to put a temporary cover on it and I would get it fixed by my dentist when I returned to Auckland. He said he could fix it permanently, then and there. So I asked how much and when he told me I said go ahead.

The tooth is still in good working order ten years later - all for the princely sum of $80!!!!

Those root canals are typical rip off, they often don't work, but you still pay.

I would have it out and an implant,if dosh not a problem.

1120067 2010-07-20 03:58:00 I have found my new dentist in Rangiora.

Next door neighbour paid $120 for xrays and a filling and then another filling $100,so you see I was ripped off.

Brian Cook used to be the dentist in Rangiora. Is he not there any more? Good guy was Cookie.

Brian Cook (Cooke?) did show up on my Google of Rangiora dentists, and it looks as though he is in the McBrearty Building (McBrearty was the name of the dentist who owned the practice in that building when I was a teenager - even in those days it looks as though dentists made enough money to build two storey premises in Rangiora's main street).

1120069 2010-07-20 20:14:00 Well, once you've experienced a decent dose of dental pain you gain a quick appreciation of dentists. It's a quality of life thing to be able to chew, drink and inhale without pain.

And remember, they spend the day hunched over a small, smelly orifice for our benefit, with the only other view being up a nose full of boogers. They deserve some compensation.
