1119052 2010-07-17 12:01:00 That's a good phone. Note that it's restricted to Vodafone's frequencies - it won't work on XT.

Am I missing something?

Modes: GSM: 850/900/1800/1900Mhz 3G: HSDPA 900/2100Mhz

1119053 2010-07-17 12:41:00 Yep, you are indeed missing something - XT is not a GSM network, it's an exclusively WCDMA network, running mainly on 850MHz.

As the Droid only supports 900MHz / 2100MHz WCDMA, and XT doesn't support GSM, this means that you can't use the Droid on XT, as they don't share any compatible frequencies.

Ah right, makes sense.

1119055 2010-07-18 07:17:00 Actually you can use your fone on 2100 but don't leave town as it's only used as infill by both Vodafone and XT. Who knows what 2Ds 3G coverage on 2100 will be like.. paulw (1826)
1119056 2010-07-18 07:56:00 Even in town (at least in Wellington), 2100 only on XT is pretty useless - coverage isn't anywhere near usable. Erayd (23)
