| 1119040 | 2010-07-17 02:30:00 | Interesting discussion, think I'm starting to sway towards an Android phone but may wait to see what comes out in the next 6 months or so. In regards to budget it looked possible to get an unlocked 3GS on eBay for under NZ$500. | JMoore (9352) | ||

| 1119045 | 2010-07-17 04:28:00 | Any thoughts on this (cgi.ebay.com)? Keeping within my $600 budget... That's a good phone. Note that it's restricted to Vodafone's frequencies - it won't work on XT. |

| 1119047 | 2010-07-17 05:35:00 | Thanks for pointing that out do they not make an 850MHz version? The 850MHz version of the Droid (i.e. the one compatible with XT) is known as the Milestone. Note that while the Droid allows custom OS images to be loaded, the Milestone does not - it has a bootloader which prevents using any OS image that is not signed by Motorola. Depending on what you want to do with it, you may or may not care about this restriction. |

| 1119049 | 2010-07-17 10:22:00 | Saw an article in the local paper the other day for an android phone coming out in NZ in the next few months (can't remember WHAT it was) but it talked about having the latest 1.6 Google Android software. :badpc: Edit: Found this (lifehacker.com) the other day. It shows you how to try android on your PC without having to buy a phone just downloaded that, but says i need 32bit java. does 32bit and 64bit java conflict? |
