1119030 2010-07-16 10:31:00 You can put Ubuntu on your Nexus One ... And to be honest the technology in the iPhone4 is basically in-line with all other smartphones available in the marketplace today, it's honestly nothing special. 1Ghz CPU? 512MB RAM? Got that in my Nexus One which came out 7 months ago Chilling_Silence (9)
1119031 2010-07-16 10:52:00 I got an iphone 3G. I'm waiting for the new HTC with the newest android os. They reckon its going to be the best Phil B (648)
1119032 2010-07-16 11:56:00 What new HTC?

I sold my iPhone 3G for $650, now I've got Android-2.2 (Froyo) on my Nexus One, it's *insanely* fast... like CRAZY quick :D

Gotta admit that having Flash on the handset does come in handy too! Sure it's not uber fast, but I can order Pizza from Dominos website from my phone. Can't do that from the iPhone ;)

Not sure, I saw something about it while browsing the other day. It's supposed to be released in the northern hemisphere autumn. I think to replace the desire but with the latest android

I can actually see apple eventually putting flash on the iphone, as it is getting super competitive with other phone makers producing better phones, and they have a huge PR disaster with this iphone vista/4 .

1119036 2010-07-17 00:08:00 Yeah just copy a .zip to the SD card, restart and hold down the Vol Down and Power, and it gives you a little navigation menu. Easy :) Chilling_Silence (9)

Saw an article in the local paper the other day for an android phone coming out in NZ in the next few months (can't remember WHAT it was) but it talked about having the latest 1.6 Google Android software. :badpc:

Edit: Found this (lifehacker.com) the other day. It shows you how to try android on your PC without having to buy a phone

1119038 2010-07-17 01:47:00 Yeah just copy a .zip to the SD card, restart and hold down the Vol Down and Power, and it gives you a little navigation menu. Easy :)Even easier if you're not running an alternative OS image on it - if you're running the stock image, it'll basically update itself, all you have to do is approve the update (although I'd recommend doing so while on WiFi, downloading OS updates on mobile data is hellishly expensive in NZ).

Note also that unlike an iPhone, updating to a new OS version doesn't mean losing any settings or data - it all 'just happens', and everything is still there afterwards - data, apps, settings, the lot.

1119039 2010-07-17 02:25:00 There's also the Android-Live CD which you can use, but it's still not quite as nice as on a phone or specific device which has the appropriate Back, Home, Settings and Search buttons (As you appear to get with the link Darkstar09 provided). However, it's instantly bootable, which is nice! Chilling_Silence (9)
