1119846 2010-07-18 06:02:00 We have just moved into this house in Rosehill, Papakura. The property has a VHF aerial, which is currently connected to the TV and a UHF (Sky celestial type) aerial.

Is it possible to connect the UHF aerial to the Balun on the VHF aerial so that we can get Prime through the existing aerial set-up?

We can't get prime at all here.

1119847 2010-07-18 06:18:00 You can get TV aerial splitters. One side plugs into your TV and the other side has 2 connections one for VHF and the other for UHF. See DSE website.

Is that the only option - can I run a ribbon lead or a coax lead from the UHF to the VHF aerial?

Go to Jaycar. They are half the price.

1119851 2010-07-18 09:24:00 Weatherproof balun on each antenna, coax from each balun to a weatherproof combining unit (diplexer) mounted on barge board, single coax from there wending its way inside to the tv.
www.tradetech.co.nz/ or http: for parts (or Jaycar as he just said while I was typing slowly!)

You will have to do as Trev said.. can be done at mast head or inside roof. I have joined mine where leads come inside from aerial. (easiest way for me)

DSE part L2259 as an example

1119853 2010-07-18 09:29:00 can't use a splitter, need a diplexer (as mentioned above). indoor ones are available if both aerials are wired into the house. tweak'e (69)
1119854 2010-07-18 10:33:00 Yes it is called a U/V mixer. One side plugs into your TV and the other side has 2 aerial lead sockets one marked UHF IN and VHF In. Have it on my desk in front of me. No longer use it. Here. (www.dse.co.nz)
