Never been a fan of the stuff use CRC 5.56.
I find it causes corrosion between ally alloy sheets.

1119806 2010-07-17 23:19:00 CRC is pretty good for poisoning rats, but it fails to live up to it's claims. i.e., "Makes things work".
Two cans liberally applied to an apprentice and he still won't work.

I like some CRC products, but 5-56 is not one of them.

1119808 2010-07-18 05:29:00 ............and before WD40 there was Edward Joy's Filtrate penetrating oil, along with Filtrate Petroyle upper cylinder lubricant and Filtate SAE30 colloidal graphited oil, as used by all good Vincent owners........ Terry Porritt (14)

We had an apprentice with similar problems so hooked up a spark plug testing machine to a door handle and zapped the little so and so. He ended up in Spare Parts shortly after this...he was no loss!

1119811 2010-07-18 06:36:00 I use Super S penetrating oil from STA Parts (www.segedin.co.nz). Just as effective as CRC and less than $4... kahawai chaser (3545)
1119812 2010-07-18 08:11:00 What was wrong with 3in1 oil? Used to do everything when I was a boy. Never tried it as a substitute for KY though. :o Richard (739)

This is really good stuff as a penetrating oil.
I have used it on exhaust parts if it does not work and after the application of heat its going to get serious.

1119814 2010-07-18 10:07:00 Yeah, mousemilk is great on turbo wastegates etc.
Doesn't work as well as eucalyptus oil for regular penetrating oil jobs though. Houghtons used to make a graphited penetrating oil that saved me untold hours of dismantling, cleaning, lubricating and reassembling airbrake scissor pivots. Just a drop or two after flights in rain and the problem was extinct.
