1167477 2011-01-06 00:00:00 Hi, I've got a Samsung TV connect to the PC via VGA cable but I'm having trouble getting the PC sounds to work on the TV.

I've tried:
1. 3.5mm male to 3.5mm male
2. 3.5mm male to RCA (this works but not on the 'PC' channel)

There's a port on the TV called 'PC/DVI AUDIO IN' but I can't find a cable that state 'PC/DVI AUDIO IN'

Does anyone know what this cable is and where I could buy one?

Thanks.

What does this "port" look like? Take a photo if necessary.
What model of Samsung TV?

1167480 2011-01-06 07:50:00 The 3.5mm Male to 3.5mm Male should work - maybe you need to change the default audio device in the sound settings, in the control panel? Blam (54)
1167481 2011-01-06 20:14:00 Tried the 3.5mm to 3.5mm connection again and it works.

The problem now is that the volume settings have to be quite high , a pain when changing to a TV station or switching to earphones.

1167482 2011-01-06 20:31:00 Is there any more audio output level available from the PC? rumpty (2863)
1167483 2011-01-06 22:35:00 on pc: increased main volume plus 'wave' volume and changed speaker setup to headphone [its louder for some reason].

I can get a good volume levels , its just the difference between PC [on TV], earphone [on PC] and TV stations are quite big.

There's an optical output from the sound card , but i don't thing PC/DVI is a optical input?

No, it's not (normally Optical is a Toslink/fibre cable with square plugs).
Your problem with volume levels, is it possible to store individual volume levels to each channel on your tv?, some tvs can do this.

1167485 2011-01-07 00:36:00 He's using the smaller version of my (currently dead) tv. Doesn't have individual volume levels I don't think, but it does have a setting to boost HE aac and Dolby digital levels differently, so you could try tha.
You could try auto volume on the TV. That I know it has.
Also yes, it's only stereo output so setting it to 5.1 and only using 2.0 will be quieter.

1167486 2011-01-07 02:35:00 The optical output for sound card is 3.5mm [optical cause red light is coming out]

There's individual settings for sound/picture but not volume. Auto mode decreased the volume but also decreased the difference a bit.

-----

I notice that removing earphones increased the TV volume [for PC] so may have to live without earphones.

Sound card model is : Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer.
No setting relating to TV but there's alot of option and playing with these [and TV setting] it seems I've got the volumes at balance levels.

Quality isn't as good as earphones , but can't except too much from TV speakers.

Thanks for the help everyone.
