1167279 2011-01-05 02:49:00 And did you want to still network with the desktop?

And why not stick with Windows as it does what you want it to so you have already said.

1167280 2011-01-05 02:52:00 It would be good.

But i currently haven't got them networked.

I don't know how or if XP can be networked to my win 7 Desktop.

1167281 2011-01-05 02:56:00 Try Ubuntu and try OpenSUSE (KDE spin) and see which you prefer.
That way at least you will decide if you like Gnome or KDE more.

I don't know how or if XP can be networked to my win 7 Desktop. XP networks OK with W7 -- Just sometimes it decides to play silly buggers.
Its normally a setting or patch someplace, finding the problem if one appears is most of the battle.

1167283 2011-01-05 04:07:00 Ok, it looks like i'll stay with XP on my laptop.

How do i network my XP laptop and Windows 7 Desktop?

With Xp on both, it was easy. But i'm still learning some things on Windows 7

1167285 2011-01-05 06:22:00 Best for doing what?

Good question. After reading this thread:-

www.pressf1.co.nz

I'm seriously confused about what Goodiesguy wants to do which is why I asked about networking.

1167286 2011-01-05 06:24:00 Remember, he is 14.

I'd recommend ubuntu or maybe kubuntu if it has a bit of oomph.

1167287 2011-01-05 06:36:00 Go to the net work and sharing centre in win7 and set the workgroup to be the same as the XP, don't use Homegroup as XP doesn't support it, then just go through the options to get networking going it's easier than you might think gary67 (56)
