1166926 2011-01-04 19:18:00 Hey all,
I like to play a few games and surf the web quite late - sometimes until the next day starts :P - and my keyboard tapping is keeping others awake.
I'm after a new keyboard, preferably a gaming model, that has virtually silent keys. The Microsoft Sidewinders and Logitech G11 and G15s look very nice, but I don't have any idea of how noisy they are.
Can anyone give me some advice here?

1166927 2011-01-04 19:35:00 Most gamer keyboards I've encountered make a fair bit of noise. There's one I got from Jaycar for my brother-in-law, it's one of the ones thats waterproof and can be rolled up, cost around $40. It works, but the keys can be a PITA to press, not really conducive to long gaming sessions unfortunately. Chilling_Silence (9)

I read on a forum that Logitech's PerfectStroke keyboards are quite quiet, and they claim so.
The K800 looks good - anyone got any experience with this?

1166929 2011-01-06 10:21:00 I have a G15, the keys do make an audible noise but I wouldn't call it excessive. Should only be an issue if there are people in the same room.

Go into a store and tap away, that's what displays are for :)

Tell them to stop sleeping in the computer room. Or shut the door.

1166932 2011-01-07 20:18:00 I know some of the ridiculously expensive razer ones make no noise. but then do you want to drop up to $300 on a keyboard?

I have a logitech mk250 kit, the keyboard in that doesn't make much noise at all compared to my current genius one.

1166933 2011-01-07 20:50:00 I was thinking about this and I have an idea...

If you were to remove the keys and then place strips of thin felt going horizontally along the grooves underneath it would stop the keys impacting the bottom hard and should make the thing a lot quieter.

1166934 2011-01-07 21:25:00 it would have to be decent felt though. Too thick and you wouldn't get a register. Too thin and might aswell have not bothered. 8ftmetalhaed (14526)
1166935 2011-01-08 04:02:00 Sounds like you need to apply acoustic tiles to all surfaces inside your room ... then press the keys VEEeerrryy lightly ... :D SP8's (9836)
