1166770 2011-01-03 21:33:00 Gonna try to resurrect an XP-Home unit that fried a hdd (on another post here somewhere) and I wonder if I can use my XP-Pro disc for that?

I have the key for the Home version.

1166772 2011-01-03 21:45:00 Looks like I have to use another XP-Pro key-license then. Rats - I only have about a dozen left now. SurferJoe46 (51)
1166773 2011-01-03 23:27:00 Not only is there separate discs for Home and Pro, there's also separate discs for OEM, retail and upgrade keys

There is a way around that though. (www.mydigitallife.info)

1166775 2011-01-04 02:23:00 Or you could ask microsoft to play nice and send you a replacement disk. There's a link on their site and you enter your COE license number and they make and post you an identical disk. It cost a bit (postage and stuff but cause your in the US it might be free?) but value wise I'd pay the $20 or so to get a new disk over using a pro license. icow (15313)
