1122332 2010-07-25 08:49:00 Hi all. I'm after a manual for my new car (yeah yeah I know, I'm going on a bit about it). Subaru Impreza 1996 1800cc. It came with one... in Japanese. Google isn't helping much. Can anyone recommend anything? ubergeek85 (131)
1122333 2010-07-25 08:56:00 This? (printer1.blogspot.com) or this (might be same one) (pdftown.com) --Wolf-- (128)
1122334 2010-07-25 08:59:00 Pop down to your local Subaru dealer. That's how I got a manual for a 1995 Toyota by going to the dealer. Think it cost around $59.00. Snorkbox (15764)

Both of them are workshop manuals. Already got that. After the owners manual.

Also worth noting that those manuals have a big chunk of blank pages in them...

About $58.99 out of my price range.

1122336 2010-07-25 09:01:00 Did you try to download the manual Wolf? Snorkbox (15764)
1122337 2010-07-25 09:03:00 Um why would you want a owners manual? What do you need to know? Next best thing would be (if it's not listed in a repair manual) sign up on some Impreza forums and ask.

And nah I didn't, thought about it, but then realized I actually hate Subarus with a passion.

So that's why you didn't find the 404 errors then.

I'm trying to find out what a particular switch does, but also want it for future reference. It (the switch) doesn't show anywhere in the workshop manual (but it could be in the missing section). It pops up a light on the dash, with a snowflake, and the word 'hold' on it. I'm guessing it's some sort of snow mode. Mainly wondering it it's safe to turn it on while the vehicle is moving, and if it has any sort of speed limit on it.

Also worth note, the repair manual seems to list a lot of things, but doesn't have the actual page for it. Good example is the rear wiper assembly (see attached pic). The very next page is for the cruise control (not in my car anyway).

1122340 2010-07-25 09:51:00 Try these advanced Google search operators ...

For glovebox/service manual:

site:.com Subaru Impreza buy glove box service manual - workshop manual

and for the switch...

site:.com Subaru Impreza interior light switch +dashboard +forum

Use slight variants for the search terms. If using Firefox - there's an addon called search cloudlet that display main keywords (as a cloud) at the top of search results to quickly target (by clicking or removing) the relevant search results. I have found a few overseas car parts this way.

Also try docjax (http://www.docjax.com/), a little known search engine that's supposedly optimized for finding any pdf document online. Most manuals are in pdf.

1122341 2010-07-25 10:07:00 Take a pic of the button.

A snow button will probably reduce throttle response and/or lock the center diff.

And really, why not join Subway Club?
