1122248 2010-07-25 03:55:00 Just when I thought we were starting to get reasonable release dates on movies, I found out the movie I have been looking forward to (The Runaways) is already out on DVD in the states, but doesn't hit NZ movie theatres until September :crying

Hopefully one day soon there will be online movie rentals available for download at the same time everywhere in the world.

There is, its called tpb. And until the movie studios get their act together, piracy is what their should expect, right or wrong.

1122250 2010-07-25 22:08:00 If it makes you feel any better, I've seen it and was disappointed.
But that's only my opinion I know...

1122251 2010-07-25 22:22:00 I was under the impression everybody who has seen the movie was disappointed.....

That aside, It makes sense that if the movie isn't making good money they won't invest in enough copies for every theater worldwide, I hear its not a cheap option.

1122253 2010-07-27 22:32:00 Started watching it a few days ago, got about 20mins in that was enough for me.
I put something else on.
People who were/are fans of of that era/singer might find it interesting, but sadly I'm not one of those.

Now that more and more theatres have digital projectors you don't have to put up with a scratched print that has already been used somewhere else. The film companies will have to find a new excuse.

1122255 2010-07-29 01:28:00 -NZ distributors delay local movie release, then delay DVD for another month, then Bluray release 3 months later
Word gets out the movie isnt very good, or the international hype has died off
Nobody goes to local release, nobody buys the DVD
NZ distributors blame piracy

Ive seen this happen in NZ, often
Word gets out a local artists CD isnt very good (or just doesnt have a big enough following). 'Single release' is stunningly bad & gets no radio play.
Sales are really low
Manger/artist blames piracy

1122257 2010-07-29 08:23:00 I watched the film and liked it. Sure it wasn't a great movie, but it was good & the girl was a hell of a lot better in the runaways than in the twilight movies.

Loved the music in the movie. I think I'll buy the soundtrack if I can get a physical copy at a reasonable price.
