| 1120733 | 2010-07-20 22:59:00 | No one has passed a comment on this so here is mine. 1. The cost of liquid Hydrogen is approximately the same as petrol. 2. The car has no batteries but uses a fuel cell to generate electricity to power an electric engine. 3. The only moving part is the engine (apart from wheels etc.) so maintenance is minimal. 4. A range of 270 miles (435K) 5. Only available in California at present. Ken |

The only issue is the infrastructure required to ensure sufficient hydrogen filling stations - but that would be down to investment by the oil companies (or better still, someone OTHER THAN an oil company) . The only disadvantage to driving one is that it might be difficult to get a five litre emergency fuel can that could fill the tank with sufficient fuel to get you to the nearest servo if you pushed to the end of the in-car tank . . . Specialised fittings and liquid gas under pressure - as Mr May said last night, "you don't want liquid hydrogen splashed all over your good trousers and shoes" . . . |
