1122189 2010-07-25 10:58:00 Yes the Herald said the car was racing !

An 80 year old racing ?

I wonder if the Herald is correct here ?

Feel sorry for the lady and the other motorists.

v. raced, rac·ing, rac·es
v.intr.
1. Sports To compete in a contest of speed.
2. To move rapidly or at top speed: We raced home. My heart was racing with fear.
3. To run too rapidly due to decreased resistance or unnecessary provision of fuel: adjusted the idle to keep the engine from racing

This is what NCEA has done to our folk. :(

1122190 2010-07-25 11:04:00 Guess it confirms that you shouldn't believe most of the crap that is published in today's newspapers.

Don't you just love the stories that today's "investigative" journalists are churning out?

What is so wrong with this article exactly?

Everything makes sense it people actually bothered reading it. Or am I missing something here?

If you can't be bothered reading something in it's entirety or if you fail comprehending basic english, you probably shouldn't...

1122191 2010-07-25 23:34:00 There again it would appear that we now have another view of this incident. The passenger has gone from being elderly to being middle aged for some reason that escapes me.

That was just a simile, as per what Cato has pointed out.

If you're going to have a go at people failing at basic English, you should probably use the correct form of "its" imo tbh.

His passenger, a woman in her 60s, believed to be his wife, died when she was thrown through the windscreen. Three other people were taken to hospital with moderate injuries.
