1167344 2011-01-06 09:27:00 How long since you did a scan and defrag ? PPp (9511)
1167345 2011-01-06 10:18:00 your download is slower than your upload, definately not normal.
Check the connection speed on your router, if it is a reasonable speed then something software related is going on. How is your monthly usage ?

1167346 2011-01-06 22:41:00 Here is the speed test result.

Check the connection speed on your router. How is your monthly usage ? Would agree with dugimodo (mostly), I would say you have a data cap shaping problem (speed drops when you reach your monthly usage limit), or you have a problem with your internet provider .

1167347 2011-01-06 23:06:00 For instance I get 6400 kbps down/600kbps up on ADSL2+, you should at least get the same speed down as up (and probably more, depends on the plan/option you've got with your provider. feersumendjinn (64)
1167348 2011-01-07 04:21:00 I performed the updates (now have IE 8) as suggested by Wainuitech. I did a speed test just now which is even more dismal than before:

Download Speed: 1528 kbps (191 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 434 kbps (54.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 26 ms

1167349 2011-01-07 04:28:00 dugimodo, you stated:
"Your download is slower than your upload, definitely not normal.

How do I check the connections speed on my router? Do you mean my wireless router? Also you refer to my monthly usage. I'm not aware of any limitations on my usage or records kept of the usage amount. I am on cable.

1167350 2011-01-07 05:07:00 Sorry, we have limits on our internet usage in New Zealand, thought everybody did ;).
Perhaps yours is truly unlimited.
What model of modem/router do you have? You may be able to access it's internal settings by typing its ip address into your internet browser (possibly in the instruction/installation manual (which also may be on your internet providers website)), though I think the Motorola cable modems that are used here have no such access and that only applys to ADSL modems.
This may help

Who is your internet (TV etc as well?) provider (perhaps we can look it up).
You should still first ring your cable provider and moan at them, :), there is definitely a problem and it's getting worse (any tv problems?).

1167351 2011-01-07 18:02:00 Note my latest speed test results taken less than two minutes apart. There seems to be quite a bit of variance. Does this indicate anything?

I am on Charter Cable, which is also my cable TV supplier. Additionally, I have a wireless router for use with my laptop around the house. I think that I will boot up my laptop and see what a speed test with it shows. More later.
