| 1168088 | 2011-01-08 01:59:00 | Hi One and all I am trying to restore an Acer Laptop The problem is that the user has no idea what either of the 2 user passwords are and I have tried to reset these using UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD) I have downloaded UBCD 5.03 as my earlier version UBCD did not seem to like Vista. Running the Password Reset utility, completes successfully and tells me that the password has been set to "blank" However, when I boot the O/S, I still am asked to enter a password for both of the 2 users displayed but they will not accept the "blank" password when entered (you don't actually key in "blank" you just press the "enter key.) Any ideas on another step or resolve would be apreciated. Cheers HH |

I have found it always works if you do this but not always if you set a password. |

HH, try using something like Konboot, which will allow you do bypass the password at login so you can reset the password in windows. www.piotrbania.com Or maybe an alternative password changer, I've always had success with the Active@ one on Hirens BCD. |
