1122567 2010-07-27 07:34:00 I've had plenty of the over-qualified crap.

In some cases they don't believe I'll stay at the job as its so much lower then whats in my resume, and in others my resume slots me in just a little higher then the person doing the interview, and they never like that.

Funny as at one interview, we were talking about project management, The dude stopped the interview, Said it sounds like I could do his job, and he wasn't hiring someone to do his job.

Lmfao.

And that was it, Shook my hand, showed me the door.

extremely common in enginering, and mechanical service industries, poor and incompeten service/workshop managers in these areas will never hire anybody who may have anywear near their capabilities.

Is frequently a cause of staff turnover when a service/workshop manager changes, they will go through the staff and remove, by any means, any existing worker who has skills close to their level.

Dosent do the companies they are employed by any good, rotten worms like that frequently lie on their CV'S too.

That's not always the case. In the past I've worked in several places where some staff got paid more than their managers. Not everyone wants to be a manager and good managers know that it's the output of their staff that makes them look good.

The problem usually seems to be a new senior manager wanting to bring in all his old cronies from previous jobs he's had.

yes that is another trait of those type of worms.

The issue with removing people is generally not to do with money but, fear of someone with supeior skill's and knoweledge.

However people with those traits would not be defined by me as "Good managers", or you probably.

1122572 2010-07-27 11:14:00 When I have worked as a manger, I fought for the staff who were better then me at their tasks, otherwise I would have to do it myself as quality was a huge consideration, and what sort of muppet would deliberately use the person who was going to do a poor job...Just makes everyone look bad.

Plus, I would call on their expertise as often as I could, gave me a different perspective, and made em happy.

Yes but YOU are a good manager and like most people with your background fear very few people, also you do not view your employer as a charity.

People who have been self employed and employers, frequently make much better intermediate and senior managers.

Both sides of the fence physicie.

best of luck,

:)

Perspective old son, Perspective.

It wouldn't be hard to find a few people that worked under me or with me that would have their own views on my way of doing things.

Lmfao.

I had one guy I worked for tell me that after 30 years in the industry I had the worst attitude he had ever encountered, I beamed with pride when he told me that. Skippy poof.
