| 1122515 | 2010-07-29 08:52:00 | Years ago in the UK they went through the same exercise in Welsh - Where the Welsh all that interested - not really. They launched a Welsh Language only TV station - there are over 3 milion Welsh. Did the Welsh watch it in viable numbers? - not bloody likely - the programmes were slightly less interesting than watching paint dry. Why cannot we learn from others mistakes? If the indigenous populace don't want to support cultural efforts in their own language - don't waste the taxpayers money! I'll bet Wales residents are more interested in their native language than NZ residents. Of the few welsh people I have met, all of them have had at least a passing interest in the welsh language. |
