1123864 2010-08-02 07:40:00 Any more tacks to spit there John? :p

Ken

I just get sick to death of the misinformation that is spread around by people who would be better spending their time spreading muck on farm paddocks.

1123865 2010-08-02 07:44:00 The Englander Tom Harrison has been out here since the sixties.
Where ever he goes what ever he does there is trouble. No different to most Englanders I have anything to do with.
Stop panicking about the foreshore, I trust the maoris if they are given ownership not to stop access to beaches.

That's his name. Waste of time, waste of space. You would think he would have waited until he learned something about the country before imitating the first wave of colonists here. Perhaps he is one of the Poms who came out here thinking they were coming to England in the Pacific. There were plenty of them.

And I am not panicking - the people who are scaremongering are those who know what happens when Pākehā get their mitts on title to the foreshore. They assume that Māori will behave as badly.

1123866 2010-08-02 07:48:00 I'm sorry . . . how does vesting the foreshore in the public domain translate to giving it to Maori?

Quite right . Mooriel was the most appalling MP and she just can't help herself even after she got the order of the boot .

And speaking about mandates, what kind of mandate does her tinpot party have? They wouldn't even be in Parliament if it wasn't for a loony law that gives them multiple seats just because one of their number won a seat . And he only gets that seat because the Tories won't fight him for it . Talk about a jackup .

Act has far too much to say for itself, and far too much power in this government for the number of people who were deluded enough to give them their party vote . I would trust the Māori Party loooooonnnngggg before I would trust Rodder's loony mob .

1123867 2010-08-02 08:15:00 So far the issue has not been tested in law to date so it is in limbo so to speak.

I know I don't want to pay a Koha for access to the beaches though as you would have to do if you want to climb up Mount Tarawera out of Rotorua. You can't go without a guide.
Some Maoris up North are charging access rights to the beaches. Here. (www.nzherald.co.nz)

1123868 2010-08-02 08:22:00 That stupid woman still wittering on? Strewth.

The simple answer to your question (I assume you wanted an answer, and that it wasn't part of Mooriel's dumb rhetoric) is that no-one knows who owns the foreshore.

That is because the racist Labour Party allowed themselves to get spooked by your racist chum Brash, and by bl eatings of the newly arrived Pommie migrant who headed the local authority in Marlborough. The Labour government passed a law that denied Māori their legal right to get an answer to this question in the Courts of the land - a right that the Court had affirmed under our Constitution and statutes.

Despite your foolish Act chum's "misinformation", no-one is giving any of the foreshore to Māori. Parliament is simply being asked to pass legislation that restores the pre-existing legal right to raise the question about customary rights to the foreshore and seabed in the Courts.

Is that simple enough for your Act chums?

John as a Commie why do you reply to we sensible people.

Prefect,if they do get what they want,I think you are in for a shock.

There are parts of Taupo that you can't visit which you can't visit, that you used to be able to.
Given half the chance, they get quite uppity.

Agreed. As it happens the Mayor of Northland is quite upset at the fact that a number of Maori up North who own land are not paying their Rates to the tune of some $14,000,000 at the moment. As this land is owed by an Iwi or Hapu or Whanua they don't, in fact, know who is responsible for the rates as such.

This is why the Mayor wants mining to be carried out there.

The $14,000,000 mentioned above is found in this link by the way as I just knew someone would ask.
