2010-08-02 05:07:00 | Am I the only one that doesn't use any ad blockers add ons. I use FF and don't get any pop ups, the pages load fast enough and I don't even really notice the ads, on Pf1 and GZ. i don't really care about the ad blockers either but i just checked FF, blocking ads are by *default* :D

2010-08-02 07:32:00 | I have no problem not using adblock on geekzone. definitely wouldn't pay for the service. The sub their ask for I think is a bit steep for what you get | plod (107) | |
2010-08-02 07:40:00 | GeekZone isn't alone. http://arstechnica.com/ Is another site that expects members Not to use Ad blockers, it's part of the membership agreement. Leave the ads on or lose the free to view sites, they have to pay the bills somehow.

2010-08-02 11:37:00 | I don't use an ad blocker - the only site on which I block ads (via CSS) is PressF1. I have no problem in principle with advertising, and I like to support those sites who choose to use it. Unfortunately, PressF1's implementation is where I draw the line. For those wishing to sanitise PressF1 a bit, the latest cleanup CSS can be found here (pressf1.co.nz), along with instructions for using it.

2010-08-02 12:58:00 | Geekzone haven't got around to warning me yet. When they do it will be the last thing before they go on the blocked list. Like PCW magazine, they used to be interesting and useful. For much the same reason I don't watch TV, the ads are apparently aimed at a group I would not want to be a member of.

2010-08-02 14:12:00 | The silly thing is that for a site to get revenue from advertising, a user has to click on an ad. I can't remember when I last clicked on an internet ad... even when I wasn't using an adblocker. No, a lot of ads give revenue by just being displayed.
