1123150 2010-07-29 07:08:00 i can't stand it! i'm utterly iSick and iTired of hearing ithis and ithat and the ibleatings of iNerds and iWorshippers ifondling their latest isex toy, And iN iPublic iToo!

iTruth is, it is iWay more iFad than iPad, and iBoredom will follow iRapidly iwhen they ifind that there is ireally isod-all they can iDo with iT except iFart around.

What's the iBet they are iSoon iBanned from iOffices where people actually do work? iPhones were easier to iHide.

We need a new site in honour of the iPad, called iTwotter where all the iTwits can go play at following each others iTwots.

Cheers

Actually, what's the bet that a new and much more versatile version with additional hardware interface capability will appear "in response to enormous public demand" as soon as sales drop off, but the current version will not be upgradeable. Look to buy slightly used iPads (tear stains only) for sweet FA once the next version is released. :devil

1123153 2010-07-31 02:38:00 My experience with iPad. apart from a bigger screen what can it do better than my iPhone? nothing! there is about 0 things that make me want to spend $2000 on something that I could do just as easily on my iPhone or even by going out and buying a net book, or even some beasty laptop that weighs 5kg The Error Guy (14052)

I had an iPhone. Ever tried doing a Remote Desktop session from the iPhone? It's a *mission* to even semi-accurately click on anything.
What about taking a phone call? It wouldn't work holding the iPad up to your ear.

After having spent a couple of hours playing around with friends iPads, I could certainly see a myriad of uses for them.
My wife and I are out at a friends place for dinner trying to sort out which movie we wanted to watch off TiVo, or if we should go and rent one from the DVD Store. We fire up the browser and flick through the website to see what new releases are available. From there, we look up the respective movies on IMDB which then plays us a Trailer. After we look up the second movie, we're happy, one of us quickly drives up the road to rent the movie. Everybody is happy.
Can you imagine trying to cram 4 people on a sofa around the tiny iPhone screen? You just can't make out enough detail.

It's all in the screen size.

Having the App Store is nice, but having a similarly spec'd Android device would also be just as nice.

Typing an email? Hell I was touch typing at around 40wpm (At a guess, and I'm usually pretty accurate) within 10 seconds. Sure I average 70-85wpm on a regular keyboard, but its a hell of a lot faster than the 15-20 I average on the iPhone / Nexus One.

Not having Flash is a bummer, it's something that I really appreciate having on my Nexus One (Shameless plug, I show Flash on Android vs iPad: www.c2s.co.nz ), especially considering the screen size really lends itself to browsing and gaming more-so.

Would it work with a 5" screen? 7" screen? Maybe, but I can honestly say that the 9" / 10" size really is the "sweet spot" in my opinion. 5" / 7" is too big to fit in your pocket to keep with you always like a phone, but to small to do anything useful like typing emails or remote desktop support, browsing the web with multiple people, running presentations.

I've found that the majority of people who've had a play with them, who still don't want one, are those who can't afford it. I can't afford it, but I'd still love a tablet. Not specifically an iPad, I'm definitely an Android fan, but I wouldn't complain if 3 months down the track if I'm in a position to buy a Tablet if the iPad was all that was available still.

Well that's one use. Could do the same on the PC, laptop or netbook.

Or an internet connected cellphone.

And the other uses are?
I could afford it, can't think why I'd want one though, don't even use the cellphone for anything much.
