1169664 2011-01-14 05:14:00 I have a 8gb usb memory stick that windows will only format as a 200mb memory stick. Mac however can format it as it's full 8gb but the partitions aren't readable on windows. How can I format the memory stick to it's full 8gb. icow (15313)
1169665 2011-01-14 05:48:00 what did you format it in? And what kind of usb stick is it?? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1169666 2011-01-14 05:51:00 EMTEC 8GB. Doesn't matter wat format fat,fat32,exFAT,NTFS they all come up as 200mb. icow (15313)
1169667 2011-01-14 05:55:00 Could format with linux. I killed one of my 8GB's myself recently. jump on my ubuntu 10.10 distro and it formats back to its 8GB fine. PCT Joe (15018)
1169668 2011-01-14 05:57:00 It possibly has a hidden partition on it in Windows. Have you checked this using partitioning software? Snorkbox (15764)
1169669 2011-01-14 06:40:00 Using Disk Management it shows there is a 7.26gb un-formatted part of the drive however when I click format it says an un-expected error has occurred.

Also on my mac it is showing two partitions on the desktop now one 7.26gb and the other 200mb.

1169670 2011-01-14 06:42:00 So try removing both partitions and create one new partition then. Snorkbox (15764)

yup.. seems like the stick as been divided into 2 partitions. plug it into the mac, go to utilities > disk utilities and erase the whole flash drive, not just the partitions.

1169672 2011-01-15 00:11:00 From the specs on your post it would seem that you are using Windows 95!
Windows 95 will not re-cognise a drive of 8gigs. 200mb will be its maximum. I can't remember if it does Fat32, I think only Fat16.

Upgrade you OS or use Linux which runs very well on old computers.
