1168947 2011-01-11 21:32:00 Hello everyone. On my old computer I used to attach a 5 metre USB cord to it with a wireless adaptor on the end extended to the router direction giving 4 or 5 bars. I achieved this without any drop out due to it being one cord. (Having over 2 caused drops).

I just built a new computer with the same O.S. and adaptor TN-321G and x64 Win7. But instead for this computer, doing this usb extention trick causes constant drops.

I even decided to give it independant power source (rock band AC adaptor) which healed the problem but still causes drops hourly instead of minutely.

Any help would be great because this is the only thing stopping my new rig :(

I like how you're thinking but no just the ethernet and display drivers appear to be uninstalled. Could it be a power issue as it improves with independant power source. I also tried enabling 'don't turn off this device to save power' without the power source but it still botched out. Haven't tried that setting with the AC adaptor though. Any other ideas :)

Nope, I'm trying to wonder what the setting is that causes this. Could it be my 5V setting for USB on mobo? Like 5V or 5VSB option for headers?

1168954 2011-01-12 01:08:00 I wouldnt change the voltage settings for USB in the BIOS. You'll probably kill something, if you do Speedy Gonzales (78)

I'm not gonna haha. It's just a motherboard setting you physically change, a jumper. I think it provides standby power or something? I'm sure someone in the forum will read this and give an extended definition or know something about it. Not sure if I shoullld change it.

1168956 2011-01-12 01:12:00 It's not dropping out with sleep mode is it? If you want to use sleep mode, set the USB jumpers to 5VSB.

I recently found my USB card reader gave problems using the front socket but was OK on a back one. Power issue there.

Good luck.
