1168866 2011-01-11 12:25:00 Hi

I have just built my computer today, and loaded windows 7 Professional 64-bit onto it. I am trying to play a game, and it comes up with the error 'A problem occured initializing DirectDraw. Hardware acceleration maybe disabled, please run DXDIAG.

So I ran this, but I can't change anything, and not sure how to fix this.

I have two AOC Razor e2043F 20" Monitors, and the video card is a ASUS Geforce ENGTX460 DirectCU TOP 1GB DDR5 PCI-E

Thanks in advance

1168867 2011-01-11 12:30:00 Did you install the chipset / videocard drivers?? Right mouse / properties on the desktop / go into display settings / advanced tab. I would kill UAC as well. Its annoying Speedy Gonzales (78)
1168868 2011-01-11 12:48:00 Sorry I'm running windows 7 not XP dpDesignz (15919)
1168869 2011-01-11 12:58:00 I re-installed the driver, and my custom theme , which was red (but default before) has finally shown up red. But when I restart the computer it disappears again. dpDesignz (15919)
1168870 2011-01-11 17:58:00 I re-installed the driver.

Which driver?
Motherboard chipset or Graphics?

You need both.

1168871 2011-01-11 19:35:00 What version graphics & chipset driver are installed, and what power supply do you have? inphinity (7274)
1168872 2011-01-11 20:07:00 If you have all the motherboard drivers installed and the latest graphics driver for your card then possibly DirectX isn't installed properly, you can get it from microsoft's update site I believe. Most games install directX or give you the option but not all. dugimodo (138)
1168873 2011-01-11 20:44:00 I installed the latest graphics driver from NVidia '260.99_desktop_win7_winvista_64bit_english_whql'. What is happening is I'm installing the latest driver, and it works, but when I restart my computer it's disappeared. dpDesignz (15919)
1168874 2011-01-11 20:55:00 What disappears after you reboot?? Have you installed the rest of the updates, including today's updates? Did you try the ASUS videocard drivers?? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1168875 2011-01-11 20:59:00 The nVidia driver I install, will fully install and my computer will work but every time I restart my computer it's as though it goes back to default. How can I check I have all the latest drivers? Windows update shows nothing new? dpDesignz (15919)
