1125047 2010-08-06 09:08:00 So I had a slight accident (twitpic.com) with my camera, and now the screen is broken. Dad took it into Next Electronics, who were going to charge $95 just to look at it

So now we're trying to find a spare screen for the camera and get my very kind electronics teacher to replace it for me. Does anyone know where I could find a spare screen for a Sony DSC-S2000 (NZ or international)? :)

I suppose Google did not turn up anything useful to you?

[Edit] Any chance that Sony might be able to sell it straight to you if you contact them?

Just new cameras and not much more :(

Their website says they only ship to repair agents or something like that.

1125050 2010-08-06 10:50:00 I hate to say it, but it is probably not worth repair. You should claim on insurance instead, they will repair or replace at their discretion, but at least you come out with a working camera.

Silly question, but I assume that you (or your parents if you live at home) have home and contents insurance?

I recently broke an irreplaceable ornament (one of a pair) and now have a quote for $800 to repair and restore it to its pre-accident condition. The insurance company can't replace it, and we don't want a cash settlement given its heirloom status, but the excess on our insurance is just $100 so it is well worth fixing.

Cheers

But you'd need to get a new memory card if you took this option. Silly Sony and the MS Pro cards...

That was the first thing I did when I saw this thread. Can only find screen protectors.

Fortunately my Sony camera also takes SD(HC) cards, so that's not a problem. :)

Hadn't thought about that - might be worth a try.
