| 1124593 | 2010-08-04 06:26:00 | So, I thought the Commerce Commission had forced Telecom to offer this? But when I looked on their website I found this: telecom.custhelp.com My wife and I are moving into a new apartment in Whangarei, and I want to sort out internet. We don't really need a landline, so I thought we could save some money by having naked DSL. But maybe not? |

| 1124595 | 2010-08-04 07:24:00 | Xnet do naked DSL. I'm on a plan with them at the moment where I get IP-phone and DSL for $69.95 and $1/GB with not maximum download. We probably save $40 a bill. Download speeds or latency aren't as good as cable (I was on Telstra previously), but it's well worth it for the price. |

Xnet's fusion is a great plan, but if you are deemed to be Rural, you pay $20 more than Urban. Slingshot is a better deal if you want NDSL. LL |

Yep that is what we are on too, no confusion over town or rural here we can see the town centre from our section |

I've heard that Xnet has speed issues during evenings. Do you find this? |

Welcome to the neighbourhood  My parents have just changed over to Xnet Naked DSL (Fusion) and the cost is $69.95 per month plus whatever data they use. They were paying over $100 for a landline plus internet before that. |

| 1124601 | 2010-08-04 23:47:00 | we never considered it. we are just on the $45 landline plan. it works out that ndsl tend to cost around $20-25 for the line then the internet on top of that. the internet tends to be FS/FS. so if you are happy on a slower connection, you might be paying for something extra. in otherwords ndsl is not totally free, ie., all up you cannot just pay $30 or $40. for those are are relatively low users, 2 Degrees has $50 plan all up with mobile data if they are in the main cities. |

I paid 1 month in advance, so it was a double whammy paying the final month of Xnet and the first month of Slingshot. I don't mind though because in the long term Slingshot will be a better deal for me. LL |
