1125310 2010-08-12 13:13:00 80's music is good. Top 40 today is terrible and i refuse to listen or like new music.

I'm happy with Pink Floyd and The Supremes

1125315 2010-08-20 15:56:00 Those must all be local phenoms - never heard of them myself - and about Benny Hill: I don't want to admit that I would watch him once in a great while . Now I've got to wash off my keyboard .

I really like the dry wit of most UK productions and some of the people I really appreciate are Cleese- ("an ageing, brilliantined stick insect") in almost anything but the best was his "Fawlty Towers" (Terry Gillam, co-write), Roy Clarke's "Keeping Up Appearances" and of course: Eric Chappel's "Rising Damp" .

John Mortimer's "Rumpole Of The Bailey" is as good as is gets for semantics and dual-entendre .

I know someone else here who also appreciates Rumpole's quipped: "SWMBO" .

But Benny Hill? No .

1125316 2010-08-20 16:25:00 . . . . . . . . . . . . . but back to MUSIC and icons .

Otis Redding live in Try A Little Tenderness ( . youtube . com/watch?v=dael4sb42nI" target="_blank">www . youtube . com)

This doesn't appear to be 'his' band though . They do it well - but the edge is missing .

Notice that really kewl 1970s Fender Precision bass in the back!

1125317 2010-08-20 21:28:00 I see the Mercury Music prize nominations for (British) album of the year are out.

They are
* Biffy Clyro – Only Revolutions
* Corinne Bailey Rae – The Sea
* Dizzee Rascal – Tongue n' Cheek
* Foals – Total Life Forever
* I Am Kloot – Sky at Night
* Kit Downes Trio – Golden
* Laura Marling – I Speak Because I Can
* Mumford & Sons – Sigh No More
* Paul Weller – Wake Up the Nation
* Villagers – Becoming a Jackal
* Wild Beasts – Two Dancers
* The xx – xx

Wild Beasts for me with Two Dancers which I think I've played several hundred times but The xx will probably take it and appear to be hot favourites with the bookies and can't argue it is a good album.

1125318 2010-08-20 22:13:00 Wish I could have got up to Auckland to see The Drums recently, but the debut album is great and on high rotate here.

Love the video of Best Friend.
