1124912 2010-08-12 00:11:00 1963 I was 25 . Saw one of the last Working Mens Clubs visits by the Beatles . Clay Lane Club near Doncaster Yorkshire . We were in the Public Bar when they started playing in the Lounge Bar/Concert Room . Amazing . The P Bar went totally quiet & people flocked to the Bar to see into the Lounge . PJ

Nice memories, Dad!

We never P in our bars here in the US - we have these little rooms for that purpose .

I think I told the story about Jimi Hendrix in the Diamond Head Crater and the one-man show I got for four hours in about 1970 .

Gads - you're 73 y/o! What's the Metric equivalent of that?

1124913 2010-08-12 00:19:00 I would say some of my favorite Beatles tunes would be, Hey Jude, Got to getya into my life, Here there and everywhere, She Came in through the bathroom window with Georges guitar riff.
:)
Just a few more. Rocky Racoon, While Your Guitar Gently Weeps Eric Clapton played the guitar. Something, Penny Lane.

1124915 2010-08-12 02:18:00 Three years ago I visited Liverpool & did the Beatles tourist spots. Got to see Pauls & Johns ex-homes, Cavern Club, Beatles Story, Jacaranda Club etc etc. The Beatles tourist industy there is absolutely huge. Even met a guy at St Peters Church who was there the day Paul met John Lennon. Also got to play one of Johns first guitars while sitting on his bed in Mendips.(It was out of tune!) An incredible experience which was nearly topped by a personal tour through Studios 1,2 & 3 at Abbey Road studios in London a short time later. Got heaps of pics too! Paul Ramon (11806)

Talking of Lucas, about a year before the Beatles hit the US, we were listening to Frank Ifield singing I Remember You ( . youtube . com/watch?v=cgPPg4Q01o0" target="_blank">www . youtube . com) .

Somewhat before then he used to entertain us occasionally at The Bell Inn if I remember the name correctly .

The Lucas connection?

His father of course, as is well known, developed the Lucas axial piston pump with swash plate servo, as used in jet engines at the time, a clever bloke was Dick Ifield .

I've got what I think is his one and only album/CD with "I Remember You" on it. He was a fairly big hit with that one song, but I cannot say I like much more of his stuff. Just too blah! ::
