1124902 2010-08-06 10:38:00 I was in my last two years of Grammar School (no High Schools then) and one day a friend turned up to classes with a portable record player plus the Beatles and Animals first EPs. I had to wait until I was working to buy my first LPs, cost the equivalent of $2.10 when I was earning $10.15 per week and paying $6 to my parents for Board., leaving $3.00 for me (after income tax).

I had to save a long time for each LP, but fortunately my school friend left Auckland while I still had his record player on loan and he never came back for it! I still have those LPs, but they are well worn and virtually unplayable. Some years back I bought a boxed set and treated them a little better!

Cheers

1124903 2010-08-06 11:10:00 Interesting that slightly over 50% were not born then according to current results.

I was in the Army (NZ) then and was never a fan of the Beatles then or now for that matter.

Think I have a couple of Beatles LPs here though inherited by my ex wife.

1124905 2010-08-10 10:42:00 I was twelve when I got my very first album which was Rubber Soul.
I preferred the earlier Beatles.

1124906 2010-08-10 14:18:00 Rubber Soul has the best cover art and it serves as my wallpaper on my desktop. my lappy has sgt pepper as the wallpaper.

these are my favorite albums and songs by the beatles:

Please Please Me/With the Beatles

I Should Have Known Better (single from hard days night)

Beatles for sale (i love this album)

Another Girl (the only good song from HELP!)

Drive My Car (RUBBER SOUL, gotta love this song)

A Little Help From My Friends (best beatles song!)/Lucy in the sky with diamonds (the only ones i really listen to on sgt pepper.)

I am the walrus.

my favorite beatles is RINGO! go ringo! and my least favorite is Paul. Paul Mcartney is a dick.

i own the 2DVD Beatles Ed Sullivan Set and i own a compilation vinyl from 1976 called Rock 'n' Roll Music. i also own a few dvds with rare beatles footage.

though the beatles arent my favorite band and i sometime hate them at times. i still think they are cool. they still can't beat Pink Floyd (Barett era) or The Supremes (1963-1967 era).

1124907 2010-08-11 00:29:00 I was in England with my younger brother and parents,'
The weekly radio show we listed to would announce that it was gong to play their new releases.
I remember being glued to the radio to waiting listen to "I wanna Hold Your Hand"
Love all their early songs.
Twist And Shout - John Lenon's voice was great.
Yes they really had a great influence on all of our lives and times, that we did not realise at the time, but when you look back you can see what was happening. They were good times.

1124908 2010-08-11 11:13:00 I have a double CD of their BBC TV show. They played live, and introduced minor variations and ad-libs to prove they were not lip-synching. I was surprised at how polished their performances were, and in some cases they were still writing the songs on the way to the theatre!

Cheers

1124911 2010-08-12 00:04:00 1963 I was 25.Saw one of the last Working Mens Clubs visits by the Beatles. Clay Lane Club near Doncaster Yorkshire. We were in the Public Bar when they started playing in the Lounge Bar/Concert Room.Amazing. The P Bar went totally quiet & people flocked to the Bar to see into the Lounge. PJ Poppa John (284)
